Life Update. ~ A.D.

Talk about meatspace, old-fashioned forum fun stuffs.

Life Update. ~ A.D.

Postby A.D.Shinjitsu » Wed Mar 10, 2010 12:44 pm

So after a long hiatus of checking forums at Netjak I'd always lurk and read all the threads I missed. Then proceed to fill everyone in on my life happenings and will-happens.

I figure there's enough people from netjak that I can post this without anyone saying 'who cares/ who are you?!' lol.

So 3-D animation fell through for me. Bioware didn't want me (they only hire people with mortgages or hard life circumstances that prevent people from leaving on a 3 year project) and didn't have enough money to move to montreal for ubisoft or vancouver for EA.

At the current moment I'm doing taxes for HRblock. Super fun /endsarcasm. I find it funny that drug dealers come in and it's really obvious that they are but then they list themselves as import/export self employed haha.

So anyways moving on in life I'm upgrading to go back to school and become a massage therapist and Acupunturist. Maybe open a clinic for myself. Keep the asian stereo type lol. This is as asian as I can possibly go.

Wish me luck!

Also how's everyone else doing? The only person I remember having a personal pursuit was Shonen_Red and law school.

Edit: P.S. did you guys ever find Alk and get him on here?

I think you're giving up on your aspirations a little prematurely. Most people don't do what they want to do right away. They get some related experience, then move on.

I'm fine. I work on briefs. I drink by myself sometimes and have trouble sleeping. And now I do that zoo thing on facebook.

Good to hear some news from old netjakers, even if in your case it's not really a good news :(
As for myself and if anyone cares, I'll should be moving to Shanghai this summer with all my family. I don't know how long we'll stay there, a minimum of 2/3 years I guess. I'm being promoted as manager, still working for HP but with a local contract.
Seems I alos definitvely give up on my video games related possible carrer but hey, passion or money, you got to choose :)

I hope I'll still be able to connect from china, with HP's proxy there should be no issue so I'll be able to give you some news.

until then, I got to finish god of war III and dig in infinite space on my DS :)

My first update since god only knows when. Nothing much. Unemployed, unfortunately, though finally pursuing active employment as a freelance writer and filmographer. I write every now and then for the Chicago corner of Examiner.com, though the restrictions they impose on my creative freedom don't make that very rewarding.

I had the same problem when I wrote for a paper, Baron. Couldn't do it for very long, unfortunately.

I'm actually in the same boat as you (unemployed and looking into freelance); drop me a PM to trade tips :mu:

Will do. I'm working on a portfolio myself.

Yeah, you're probably right. But it's so draining to work towards a portfolio, even to improve my skill, if there's little to no future for me a few years unless I move. So I chose to just move on. And I guess I have some experience. I worked for some concept housing company in my area. But they cancelled on me and scrapped everything. I left the files there to work on it for fun. But no motivation. After that not a single potential contract my way. Blah.

And you make your life sound like a less happy phoenix wright lol.

Also for Tez and Baron. Freelancing tip; Network like a bitch. If you don't already lol. And If you have an online portfolio want me to make you a super sexy particle-y 3-D banner? haha

Man, I don't even want to give a life update with all this going on.
