Podcast changes + New Host search!!

For those wondering why there hasn't been a podcast in a while, the show is currently undergoing a transition. Number one, sadly, Patrick has decided to step down as one of our permanent hosts. Between work and free time with his wife, he's simply just lost the drive to get into the games he'd otherwise like to. It's completely understandable, but I still hate to see him go. He will always have a guaranteed continued presence with the show, and I've assured him that he is welcome to jump on as a fill-in host whenever it works out for him and us.

Now, that leaves a spot open on the show. If you've always liked the idea of being on a podcast talking about video games, this is your opportunity to step up and apply for the spot. Aside from the cost of renting (or buying) games, the costs of the podcast are minimal. You would require the following: Skype (free) and a usb mic/headset. And that's pretty much it. You can pick up a decent headset for about 30 bucks at any electronics store.

Renting games is the obvious way to go. I do the monthly unlimited rental thing at Blockbuster and it costs me 30 bucks a month, Canadian. (It's cheaper than that in the States.) I think the other guys like using Goozex. In any case, it's not that expensive. Playing games for a podcast is also a good way to get some extra games in, that you'd otherwise never play, which is actually pretty cool. It's also worked out well with the wife, as she thinks I'm making better use of my time, instead of just wasting away the hours I used to. Now that I have a podcast, she even believes I'm doing something productive. Crazy.

We record the show on Wednesday nights, starting at around 8 pm central. Depending on how much Gordon and Martin talk about themselves, we're usually wrapped up by about 10 pm....sometimes a little later. It's a pretty simple format....2 guys talk about one game, the other two take on another game. Then we wrap up with a brief contest segment, and that's pretty much the show.

Games-wise, it's usually whoever wants to play a game more, who gets it. It hasn't yet been a problem for anyone, I don't think, to get a game he really wants. Plus, there's usually always something cool available to play. Completing games, also isn't critical. The idea of the show was to play as much of a game as you could in a week. It's not always easy, or often even possible, to complete a game in a week.

That's about it, I think. If you have some interest in stepping up, let us know. Finding a replacement is going to determine when we fire up the podcast again. Some of the games we've done, and would like you to take on are: Bioshock 2, Darksiders, Saw, Dante's Inferno, Aliens vs Predator.

So what are you waiting for!
Maybe losing your mind isn’t always compulsory.
